The Greenville Morning Rotary Club was chartered by Rotary International on January 12, 1987 under the sponsorship of the Greenville Rotary Club and the Greenville Noon Rotary Club. On the evening of February 14, 1987 a “Charter Night” celebration was held at the Greenville Country Club attended by the original twenty-five charter members and their spouses. Established with a commitment to encourage diversity in membership, the Greenville Morning Rotary Club is proud of its distinction in being one of the first clubs in our district and State to induct women members. The Club met for the first twelve years at the Three Steers Restaurant and most recently at the Greenville Hilton and City Hotel and Bistro. We begin the 2006-2007 year by returning to the Greenville Country Club for our weekly meetings.

The Greenville Morning Rotary Club has maintained an abiding commitment to numerous service projects on the community, national and international levels. The Club’s annual sponsorship of the “Student of the Month” program with the six Pitt County High Schools results in annual scholarship awards to the outstanding male and female “Students of the Year.” An additional scholarship was established in 2005 which is awarded annually to an outstanding student at Pitt Community College.

We are proud and honored that Daneel Leon leRoux is a Charter Member and Past President of the Greenville Morning Rotary Club with the distinction of being the first District Governor from our club to assume the leadership of District 7720 for the 2006-2007 Rotary year.
