Church History

Land at the present site of Tyler street and Washington street was purchased and the first auditorium, now the nursery, was completed in 1955. By Christmas of that year, the church called its first full time pastor, Reverend Tom Tipton, and ordained six deacons.

God continued to bless the Hillcrest fellowship, and a year later they began to feel their ministry limited by lack of space. The needs were outlined to the congregation, and a two story educational building was dedicated in 1957.

God’s ministry expanded, Hillcrest membership grew, and the first auditorium became unable to seat the membership. The new sanctuary was to seat 500 worshipers and was dedicated in 1964.

In 1984, every bit of education space as well as the sanctuary was being used for Sunday school classes. The church family then built the current sanctuary and converted the old space into the present day fellowship hall.

Hillcrest has a rich history of people and families who love the Lord with their whole heart. it is our mission to continue that mission into the future by Developing Dedicated Disciples of Jesus Christ. It is our vision to see lives transformed as they encounter the Living God. We believe that Hillcrest is the place where streams of healing water flow.
