Yonkers is just north of New York City , bordering the Bronx and sitting on the historic Hudson River. The Lutheran Slovak immigrants settled here in the late 1800's along with Russian Orthodox and Roman Catholic Christians. Trinity Square is now home to Holy Trinity Lutheran, Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox, and Most Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church.

The congregation was first organized on July 2, 1895 bearing the name "The Slovak Evangelical Augsburg Confession Society of St. John the Baptist in Yonkers , New York ." A legal charter was obtained under the name "Holy Trinity" on March 23, 1902. In 1903, the congregation purchased the present property and a new house of worship was dedicated on May, 21, 1905. On August 21, 1921, Holy Trinity installed her first full-time resident pastor.

Services were conducted in Slovak and English. A new parsonage next door was dedicated on October 22, 1922. As the congregation grew, the need for a larger worship building was necessary. Construction on a new building , began in 1957 and was dedicated on September 21, 1958. The church mortgage was burned on September 23, 1962.
