Hoover Middle School

History:
Hoover Middle School is located on the Space Coast of Brevard County in Indialantic, Florida. The student population of 480 consists of 7th and 8th graders. Hoover has maintained a high standard of excellence and recognized for that achievement by being a Florida grade "A" school for seven consecutive years. That standard has also been acknowledged by achieving the National No Child Left Behind Adequate Yearly Progress. Hoover students consistently score above the district, state and national averages on standardized tests.
Hoover will celebrate its 41st year of operation in the 2006-2007 school year. Hoover Middle School is one of five "Presidential Schools" Brevard constructed in the mid 1960's.
Hoover is home to 35 full-time certified teachers that include two full-time counselors, and a media specialist. Hoover Middle School also has three instructional assistants, a school resource officer, a school office clerk, a data entry clerk in guidance, a media assistant, a school secretary, a school bookkeeper, five custodians, and five cafeteria workers. The current enrollment for Hoover Middle School is 480 students. There are three administrators - Principal, Assistant Principal for Curriculum & Instruction and Assistant Principal for Discipline & Attendance.
Hoover Middle School boasts the ability to heterogeneously group all core academic areas as well as elective offerings. High School credit courses are offered in the area of mathematics (Algebra 1 Honors & Geometry) and foreign language (Spanish I & Spanish II). This is the first year that Hoover will have a seven period day. This opportunity will give students additional course selection for elective offerings - band, chorus, orchestra, art, drama, and career and technical courses.
Hoover Middle School has a new vision - "Excellence Everyday". This is what we will work toward daily. It is our belief that every child can learn and our job is to do the very best we can to make them successful.
