John Crow Farm

170 Old Ayer Road
978-235-4708

John Crow Farm offers two types of CSA: a Meat CSA and a Poultry CSA. Both CSAs begin on June 1st and December 1st each year.

There are a limited number of member slots open from year to year, so please sign up as early as possible. For more information on how to join either the Meat or Poultry CSA, please see our website.

We offer five Meat CSA share sizes to choose from: five, ten, fifteen, twenty or twenty-five lbs of pre-packaged meat that is delivered once a month. In addition, our members also enjoy a 20% discount on additional meat purchased.

We offer two Poultry CSA share sizes to choose from: six and twelve lbs of pre-packaged poultry that is delivered once a month. The Poultry CSA includes monthly eggs and Thanksgiving turkey and/or Xmas goose.

We work hard to include a variety of cuts from pork, lamb, beef and chicken, more than one type of meat each month. At times, we may have specialty items like gamebirds, rabbits, duck or goose to include in monthly shares. We email members weekly to see who has an interest in receiving them.

Also, we work with each individual CSA member on their preferences for what to include in the monthly CSA. We can make no guarantees, but know that we will work with you.

Each month, we deliver your purchase to the CSA drop-off location of your choice: Cambridge, Somerville, JP, Groton, Bolton, or Home Delivery via Metro Pedal Power.

John Crow Farm utilizes an approach for rearing animals known as "pasture-raising." Pasture-raised animals roam freely in a natural environment where they're able to eat nutritious grasses and other plants that their bodies are adapted to digest. Pasturing also helps reduce environmental damage, and yields meat and eggs that are tastier and more nutritious than foods produced on factory farms. All of our birds and animals are grass-fed in natural Massachusetts pastures for the duration of their lives.

Grazing on pasture is especially beneficial for our poultry, whose bodies and diets benefit greatly from eating this way. The roughage found in our pastures allows our animals to produce saliva, which helps neutralize acids that exist naturally in their digestive systems.
