The needs are great and our services broad, including sight, health, youth, elderly, the environment and disaster relief. Our international network has grown to include more than 200 countries and geographic areas.
In 2012, The Lions Club of Hendersonville and the Optimist Club of Hendersonville decieded to merge into the Lions Club.
They expanded and partnered with The Optimist Club of Hendersonsonville.  Meeting the needs of young people in communities worldwide, Optimist Clubs have been "Bringing Out the Best in Kids" since 1919. Optimist Clubs conduct positive service projects aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. Club Members are best known in their communities for their upbeat attitudes.

Optimists conduct 65,000 community service projects each year, spending $78 million in their communities.  Six million kids are positively affected by Optimist programs.
The Hendersonville Optimist Club won distinction among peer organizations within Optimist International.

Hendersonville Optimist Club's (now The Lions Club) continues to focus on service to the children of our community. With various fundraising activities, including our first annual golf tournament, we strive to raise funds to work on projects of our own as well as helping fund existing efforts in the community. One hundred percent of monies raised go to fund our charitable activities.

OPTIMIST creed:

Promise Yourself-

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
