The mission of  the Lodi School District is to inspire lifelong learning where students appreciate what they have already learned, are eager to learn more, and use their knowledge wisely. Through the dedication of our administration, faculty, and staff, our schools are always exploring new strategies for engaging students in the learning process and cultivating the natural curiosity of young minds.

The goal of the Lodi School District for the current school year is to close the achievement gap between our highest and lowest performing students while increasing learning and achievement for all students. We plan to accomplish this by continuing to increase and infuse technology into the curriculum, differentiating instruction in all subject areas, and implementing the Positive Behavior Support in Schools initiative in the Thomas Jefferson Middle School.

Increasing the availability of computers, technology, and Internet connectivity for student and teacher use is a top priority. All of our schools have wireless connections to the Internet, allowing connectivity anywhere in the building.

Differentiated Instruction is a teaching theory based on the premise that instructional approaches should vary and be adapted in relation to individual and diverse students in classrooms. To differentiate instruction is to recognize students varying background knowledge, readiness, language, preferences in learning, interests, and to react responsively. It is a process to approach teaching and learning for students of differing abilities in the same class. The intent of differentiating instruction is to maximize each student's growth and individual success by meeting each student where he or she is, and assisting in the learning process.

School Wide Positive Behavior Support is a systems approach to creating a school environment that fosters pro-social student behavior. It uses relevant and practical data to assess building priorities with regard to behavior and discipline problems.

School Wide Positive Behavior Support impacts schools by increasing the capacity of administrators, faculty and staff to deal with students who engage in chronic patterns of problem behavior. Results have shown a reduction in the overall number of behavior problems experienced across the school, an increase in socially appropriate behavior, and a system for monitoring and responding to emerging patterns of discipline and problem behavior.

On behalf of the Lodi Board of Education, administration, and staff, I would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation of the community's support of our children as evidenced by attendance at athletic events, curriculum exhibits, and musical and dramatic performances. I look forward to working with the entire community to achieve our goals for the upcoming school year.
