History:

The first school in Lomira was located on South Street and dates back to 1861. A grade school building was located on the present site of Schraufnagel Implement. It was open from 1892 to 1913. Some of that building still exists in Schraufnagel's present building.

A new school was constructed on the present site of the Lomira School in 1913. The first graduating class was in 1916.

An addition to this building was constructed in 1936 and another in 1955. This is now part of the middle school area. A third addition was built in 1964. After the 1964 addition was up, the original 1913 building was torn down.

The oldest section of the Lomira complex consists of the former band and chorus room and the small gym area. In 1955 the middle school addition was constructed and in 1964 another addition which included all the current classrooms, gym, and offices was added to the high school. In 1968 the elementary school addition was constructed and in 1976 the vocational addition was added to the high school. The Theresa Elementary School building was constructed in 1962 with an addition in 1973.

A $600,000 building addition and renovation program during the summer of 1991 resulted in: an additional three classrooms and three conference rooms to the Theresa Elementary School, expansion of the middle school science room and high school graphic arts room, a greenhouse, in addition to kitchen, industrial arts, and AV storage areas.

A successful $7.6 million dollar referendum in February of 1995 resulted in the following renovations and additions to the Lomira facility: 8 new classrooms, 5 small group conference rooms, a new K-8 IMC, 2 computer labs, a new middle school gym, remodeling of the administrative office area, a new K-8 choral music room a new 7-12 band room, a new 7-12 choral music room, a new high school art room, gym storage, high school girls' locker room, and a new training and weight room. Extensive landscaping around the Lomira facility also resulted in the development of three new parking lots, a new football field, and track. The Theresa facility received 7 new classrooms, a remodeled IMC, a computer lab, and cafeteria. Landscaping around this facility resulted in an expansion of parking and playground areas.
