The Arthur M. Longsjo Jr. Middle School was established in 2009 on the site of the old Fitchburg High School. The consolidation of two school communities, B.F. Brown Arts Vision School and the Academy Community Pilot School, brought a richly diverse student population together under the umbrella of the Expanded Learning Time initiative. Since its inception, the Longsjo school community has worked tirelessly to expand learning opportunities for children and push the limits of a uniquely collaborative professional staff.

The vision of the Longsjo Middle School is to ensure that all students benefit from high quality instructional experiences that meet or exceed high standards for preparing children to progress towards college and career readiness with grit and persistence.
