Mission Statement of the Needville Independent School District

The Needville Independent School District is moving toward the future in a period of dramatic change in economics conditions of school district, state, and nation. The educational format of the Needville I.S.D. has the challenge to prepare its students to live and work in a changing future.

All students need to develop the essential academic skills and acquire the knowledge base necessary to build lifelong learning skills. All students will be taught a core curriculum of English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, fine arts, health, physical education, and computer literacy. All students will acquire a knowledge of citizenship and economic responsibilities and an appreciation of our common American heritage. To the full extent of their individual abilities, students will be provided the opportunity to develop the ability to think logically, independently, and creatively and to communicate effectively.

Instruction must be provided at the highest levels of quality. Educational opportunities and resources must be distributed with equity for all students. Needville I.S.D. will maintain accountability for goal results and continued improvement in student achievement.

Needville I.S.D. will strive to provide an educational system with the vitality to prepare its students for the changes and challenges of the future, a future which will belong to the educated.


History of Needville Independent School District

The district was established on December 17, 1946. The first board meeting of the Needville Rural High School District was held on January 9, 1947. The first graduating class was the class of 1949. The country school districts consolidating to form Needville I.S.D. were Big Creek, Marlow, Guy, Brown, Forester, Needville, Seiler, Modena, Williams, and Concord.

In 1949, Damon I.S.D. signed a contract with Needville I.S.D. to allow their high school students to attend Needville High School.

Needville I.S.D. encompasses 200 square miles and is the first consolidated district in Fort Bend County.
