History:

New Hope Christian Church traces its roots back to 1822, when a group of seceders from the Dutch Reformed Church established a church in Monsey. After roughly 90 years of ministry, the church ceased to meet as a congregation sometime after 1909 but was then reconstituted as a Sunday school between 1920 and 1940.

It began to take shape as a worshiping congregation once again under the leadership of Dick L. Van Halsema, whose work as a missionary beginning in 1949 was focused on Monsey, leading to the organizing of Monsey Christian Reformed Church in 1952. The name New Hope Christian Church was adopted in 1998. Not many years later, the members were united in a decision to depart amicably from the Christian Reformed Church. In 2007 the church affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

To God be the glory for the things he has done through the centuries at this little church in Monsey! We take great joy that he is pleased to continue his work among us and through us. Our prayer is that we may bring honor to his name and many blessings to our neighbors in Rockland County and beyond for years and years to come!
