North Kingsville Presbyterian Church

6546 Church Street
440-224-1491

Since before 1875, Protestant religious services have been held on the site now occupied by North Kingsville Presbyterian Church. The beginning was made by Rev. E.J. Comings, an evangelist whose preaching was so convincing that a group of local citizens decided to build a meeting house immediately. This original group was organized in 1875 as the Evangelical Society of North Kingsville. Thanks to the bevevolence of William Callow and W.H. Lockwood, the property was secured and, within a short time, the original building was erected.

On May 9, 1906 the congregation was organized as a Presbyterian Church and affiliated with the Presbyterian Church USA. The name Union Presbyterian Church was adopted and D.C. Caughey, C.E. Crowther and A.L. McNutt were elected and ordained to ruling eldership.

Slow but steady growth resulted in the building of the Christian Education building in 1957 and a new manse in 1968. In 1980, the congregation began preparations to build a new sanctuary to be attached to the existing Christian Education building. This dream was realized with the dedication of the present sanctuary in February 1985.
