In 1990 the Arizona Legislature approved the formation of Joint Technological Educational Districts (JTED's). Later that year the East Valley Institute of Technology was formed shortly after the general election. Following a thorough study of Northeastern carreer and technical education needs, in 1998 voters approved the formation of Arizona’s second Joint Technological Educational District: NAVIT (Northern Arizona Vocational Institute of Technology). Students may earn high school credit while attending NAVIT and graduate from their host high school or charter schools. In addition, students may earn community college credit from Northland Pioneer College (refer to “NAVIT Classes” on tool bar.). In addition, the Certified Nursing Assistant Program is offered at both the White Mountain Campus and the Springerville-Eagar Center.

To provide high-quality, convenient, cost-effective, and industry-driven vocational learning opportunities for the diverse population served by NAVIT.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

NAVIT will provide maximum vocational training opportunities for our young adult and adult populations. Opportunities will stress instructional formats that maximize learning and achievement.NAVIT will provide and promote vocational training access that stresses equal opportunity for all student populations.
