About School District:

Northwest Local School District is situated in the northwest corner of Stark county with part of the district in Summit and Wayne counties. The school district serves over 2400 students in five buildings. Primary age children attend grades K to 2 at Northwest Elementary School. Students in grades 3 to 4 go to W. S. Stinson Elementary and students in grades 4 to 5 go to Northwest Intermediate School. Northwest Middle School, grades 7 and 8, and Northwest High School, grades 9 through 12, serve our secondary students.

The students of the Northwest School District have historically and consistently scored above the norm on standardized tests and exceptionally well on state proficiency tests. There has been at least one National Merit Semifinalist in the district for the past eight years.

The veteran staff is committed and dedicated to excellence. Children's needs are met by teachers, tutors, guidance counselors, psychologists and other specialists. A responsive and proactive stance has resulted in well maintained buildings, grounds and school buses.

The Northwest community receives an excellent return on the investment of their educational dollar. We are proud of our students, employees, school system and community.
