The Oregon Health Career Center (OHCC) is a nonprofit organization that provides innovative solutions to challenges in our healthcare workforce. We build and diversify Oregon's healthcare workforce through a pipeline of science and health professions programs that prepare children and adults to become the healthcare workers of tomorrow. We also facilitate industry planning and coordination activities to efficiently and effectively define, prepare for and meet future workforce needs. With our partners, we assure the education and training of new healthcare workers who will fill looming healthcare workforce gaps and provide culturally and linguistically appropriate care for their patients.

Since 1995, OHCC has provided services to over 30,000 Oregonians. Through our programs:

·     1,000 low-income and ethnically diverse elementary school children per week explore fundamental science concepts that build the academic foundation for careers in health. Outcomes show positive results for our students as they make academic gains and improve their attitudes toward school and science.

·     150 disadvantaged youth each week prepare for college and learn how to reach their goal of entering a career in health.

·     2,000 Oregon high school students discover the array of health career options annually.

·     113 high school students per year each receive a $2,000 college scholarship.

·     Over 175 Medical Assistants and Healthcare Interpreters have been trained.

In partnership with Oregon's community colleges, we operate innovative nursing education programs for hospital incumbent workers. To date, we have graduated 64 RNs, who are now working in Oregon's healthcare system.
