Mission Statement

Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Parish is called to know, love, serve and worship the Lord together so that we will love one another, as Christ loves us. Therefore, we seek to provide a Christian environment that permeates our lives and draws the entire community closer to God.

History

The community of Our Lady of the Lake was established in 1974 through the efforts of Catholics of the Rockwall area who had been driving up to twenty miles to the nearest Catholic Church, St. Pius X in northeast Dallas. Monsignor Weinzapfel, pastor of St. Pius, was instrumental in organizing the effort which resulted in the establishment of our church as a mission.

The first service was held at the old Rockwall High School on December 8 of that year. After purchasing the old Baptist Church on Rusk Street in 1976, the mission was upgraded to a parish on December 3, 1978.

In 1992, the parish moved to its new building on Damascus Road and worshipped in the lower level (what is now the Holy Family Center) until completing the second phase of construction, under the direction of Fr. William A. Richard. The completed church was dedicated on May 9, 1999. The twenty-fifth anniversary Mass was celebrated by the most Reverend Charles V. Grahmann, Bishop of Dallas.
