About Us:

The Phenix City Arts Council's goal is to increase awareness and provide experiences in the arts for our community and to make art an ongoing affordable experience for all ages. Our community consists of Phenix City, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia, which are neighboring cities and approximately a 50 mile radius. The Phenix City Arts Council ( PCAC ) was organized in 1968 by a small group of 13 artist to promote the arts in the community. In 1995 PCAC was incorporated as a non-profit corporation and secured the airport administration building ( a historical site ) from the City of Phenix City. Members of the PCAC offer classes in drawing, painting, clay building, pottery, stained glass, basketry and photography. Classes for children are included and run for the full year. Our gallery is open for viewing and we plan open houses, shows and art work days. Members and students are encouraged to participate in other local art shows. in 1999 the PCAC donated their time and expertise to design and paint a giant mural on the retaining wall in Idle Hour Park. The historical mural depicts activities that existed in the park from 1938 to 1962. We also provide artwork for the Phenix City - Russell County Public Library and several businesses as well.
