PIA, a premiere school of aviation maintenance, aviation electronics, and electronic systems training, was established in 1929. PIA’s goal has been to provide its learners with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that they need in order to succeed in their chosen career fields. With associations in every facet of the aerospace industry, PIA has placed its graduates worldwide, in aviation and in other high-performance organizations. PIA graduates hold positions ranging from newly employed field technicians to corporate leaders with global influence.

In 1995 PIA expanded its training to meet other needs in the transportation industry with the addition of its Truck Driving Program. As skilled commercial drivers are always in demand, this course of study provides a much-needed training program in several locations in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. In 2003 PIA again expanded its course offerings to include Heavy Equipment Operation, Corporate Training, and Computer Based Training for youth and adults.

It is clear that the school’s longevity can be greatly attributed to its pursuit of excellence in education. With incredible changes that have taken place in the aviation industry, the economy, and the world since 1929, it seems unlikely that a school that offers such specialized training would remain in existence. On the contrary, a commitment to serving the needs of its students and employees along with a responsibility to industry and community has secured PIA’s position as a well-respected postsecondary educational institution. One of the very few schools with a history dating back to the early days of aviation, PIA has grown and changed along with industry and technology, so that it can provide its students with skills they need for success in the workplace, both today and in the future.
