Ponies and Kids (PAK) is a non-profit organization that strives to provide an environment where children and young adults can not only “horse around” but also safely learn about horses. Our mission is to make being with horses affordable for those who have the desire to interact with horses but need financial assistance.

PAK’s goal is to give youth who find working with horses cost-prohibitive a chance to learn about horses and about working with horses. This applies to youth from disadvantaged homes, youth with military parents, youth that have parents with terminal or debilitating illnesses, youth with academic challenges, foster children, and young people involved in other youth oriented organizations. PAK encourages and teaches work ethic, responsibility and the economics of horses, while promoting self-worth and encouraging physical activity and great sportsmanship.

Therapeutic Riding is another aspect of PAK. This is also known as Equine Assisted Activities and Equine Facilitated Learning for children with physical, cognitive or emotional disabilities. This provides an avenue for students to improve their grades and gain self-confidence.

PAK also participates in Emergency Horse Rescue. This provides temporary homes to horses in the Greater Lafayette and West Lafayette areas when owners find themselves in temporary financial hardship. We would also be honored to provide a home for the equine friends of military personnel on active duty.

The Partnership Network consists of PAK and other youth orientated non-profits and its purpose is to educate the broader public about the health and benefits of equine activities. Such activities include, Summer Riding Camps, 6 week lesson sessions, 4H Jumping Clinics, After School with Horses, PAK Show Team, and the Girl Scout Badge Program.
