The mission of the Poway Historical and Memorial Society is to bring together persons interested in collecting and preserving artifacts and information of historical value pertaining to Poway and its immediate environs. Through these endeavors, we can share with our children the heritage of our community --- from the pioneer days to the present.

History

Poway has an unique and fascinating history. In order to preserve this history, a group of citizens banded together to form the Poway Historical and Memorial Society. In the summer of 1964, Mr. Ray Stock organized the first meeting at the Old Timers' Picnic at Felicita Park in Escondido. The Constitution and by-laws were adopted the following November & Mr. Stock was elected the first President. The initial membership was fifty-three; today we have over 200 members.
