Rock Community Fire Protection District is a caring family and a progressive regional leader. With dignity, integrity and respect, we will safely do "Whatever It Takes" to assist anyone in need.
We are the Rock Community Fire Protection District. Our job is to protect property, prevent fire, and save lives. This organization was founded in 1941 as the Rock Community Volunteer Fire Association by a group of citizen volunteers that saw the need for fire protection in their community. The first fire station was located in the basement of Arnold Auto Repair and housed a Diamond Rio fire truck purchased used from Millstadt, Illinois. We have grown to 4 fire stations to meet the increasing demands of our growing community. Engine house #1, located on Jeffco Boulevard in Arnold, was built in 1959. Engine house #2 on Main Street in Imperial opened in 1971. Engine house #3 on Lonedell at Tomahawk Dr. was opened in 1987. On May 22, 2000 we opened our 4th station at the intersection of Elm and Miller. Volunteers started this District and will continue to play an important role in its future.
Today, Rock Community still has 18 citizen volunteers that work with our 55 career shift firefighters including 3 Battalion Chiefs 30 Firefighter/Paramedics, 12 Firefighter EMTs, 3 inspectors in the Fire Prevention Bureau, and 7 support staff. A total of 70 dedicated people work for your fire safety 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We maintain training levels for all firefighters that meet or exceed national fire service standards.
