History:

Ruth O. Harris Middle School opened in September of 1993 and is located in a semi-rural area of unincorporated Bloomington. The school is south of the I-10 freeway and is nestled at the base of the Jurupa Hills. Situated on close to 24 acres, the campus earned the "Award of Excellence" for design of educational facilities.

Our school was named in honor of Mrs. Ruth O. Harris, a Bloomington resident and Board of Education member from 1953 to 1991. Mrs. Harris was an active member of the PTA in Bloomington for 47 years and a volunteer with the American Red Cross, Arrowhead United Fund, Girl Scouts and San Bernardino County Museum. She was an expert on parliamentary procedure who believed in education and community service. Mrs. Harris passed away in 1996.
