STS Motorsports, Inc. was founded in 2005 by Rob Marsden, and was started as a grass roots movement to reopen the closed North Wilkesboro Speedway which was closed nine years prior.

General Information

North Wilkesboro Speedway opened in 1947 as a dirt track and in 1949 hosted the final race of the first NASCAR Strickly Stock season with Bob Flock winning the race that day and Red Byron winning the first NASCAR championship. North Wilkesboro Speedway operated for 50 years under the care of the Staley and Combs families who built the speedway.
