559-898-6500

Mission:

"The mission of the Selma Unified School District is to provide a student-centered instructional program which allows students to reach their highest potential as contributing members of society."

History:

The Selma Unified School District began in 1878 as the Valley View School District. Through dynamic consolidation over the years, the District now serves greater Selma and the needs of a student population of approximately 6000 from Pre-School through Adult School. The 11 school sites have 800 (full and part time) employees, who provide a rich, positive, learning environment with an average class size of 27 students. In the Fall of 1996, the District began participating in the State Class Size Reduction Program of 20 students to 1 teacher in primary grades. The District annual budget is approximately $41 million.
