Mission Statement:

Visual artists and supporters encouraging and promoting the arts in the community.

History:

Sequim Arts, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of visual arts in the Sequim Area, was organized in 1969 by Mary Bartlett, Aina Hubbard, Joy McCarter, Ardean Robinson and Leah Wright. Their aim was to provide a forum where artists could encourage each other and act cooperatively to further their artistic goals. Through the years this spirit has continued and grows ever stronger.

Over the years Sequim Arts has taken on various new projects: a Student's' Exhibit in March, a Members' Exhibit during the Irrigation Festival, assists with the Clallam County Fair Art Exhibit in August, and an annual Juried Art Exhibit in October.

Sequim Arts offers informative programs, demonstrations and workshops that are open to both members and non-members. A monthly newsletter is published that is mailed and is now also online. Tours of galleries, studios and special exhibits throughout the Puget Sound area and the Olympic Peninsula are offered. Video tapes relating to various fine art subjects have been collected and are available to members.

Sequim Arts exists:

To promote an interest in fine arts.

To support the efforts of local cultural art groups.

To assist artists in enlarging their interests and in developing their skills.

To encourage artists of all ages to explore new fields in art.

To conduct such other activities as will further these objectives.
