Sharon Community Chamber Orchestra

The Sharon Community Chamber Orchestra was founded in 2003 by enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers who had a vision of an orchestra that would serve the community at large while fulfilling the musical needs of its members. Former Sharon Recreation Department Director, Dave Clifton, provided support for the newly formed orchestra by offering rehearsal space at the town's Community Center and a venue for its first performance - the Thanksgiving Dinner sponsored by the Sharon Rotary Club.  At the orchestra's well-received first performance, 25 members from Sharon and surrounding towns comprised the ensemble. In 2004, The First Congregational Church of Sharon offered the orchestra permanent rehearsal space and a venue for performances.  Over the years, the orchestra has performed many full orchestral concerts and has provided small groups for community events including the Beech Tree Park Dedication, Sharon interfaith services, and a photography exhibit honoring Sharon's diversity. The ensemble, which includes both adult and student musicians, has continued to grow musically, under the baton of Michael Korn, our music director since 2008, and holds spring and late fall concerts at the Sharon Middle School Auditorium.  The Sharon Community Chamber Orchestra continues to pursue and fulfill its mission of serving the community and providing meaningful musical experiences for its members.
