I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and our team of volunteers here at South West Florida Horse Rescue, Inc. (SWFHR).  We, Tina Garrett and Matt Venaleck, founders of SWFHR, started our mission to save the lives of our local horses in early 2010.  We solely funded our horse rescue until achieving our 501c3 non-profit charitable organization status in 2013.  Subsequently we were awared a private grant from The Fred and Jean Allegretti Foundation in April 2014.  Their primary goal is to provide an improved quality of life and dignity for mankind and animals alike through humanitarian support.  They felt our mission complimented the intended goals and objectives of their foundation.  This grant enabled us to purchase a 40 acre property to start our vision of a quality and safe environment for our rescue equines.

We strive to make a positive impact in our local community by offering, not only horses but our young people and our seniors of the local area, a place to come and learn about the theraputic energy that equines provide. We often host events at our facility such as Horsemanship Clinics featuring very well known and respected clinicians in the equine world.  Our gates are always open to new volunteers, if your heart is full of the love of animals, you have a place here at SWFHR.

We urge everyone to 'do your homework' when donating your time, money or support to any animal rescue organization.  Be sure that the organization you are supporting is a verified 501c3 non-profit charitable organization, in compliance with the rules and regualtions in the State of Florida.  We also recommend that you ask the organization for references, veterinarian, farrier, feed store, hay provider, etc.  We, SWFHR, are no different and we are happy to share our creditials and offer several local references so that you can rest assured, your efforts are going to a deserving cause.
