St. Mary's Episcopal Church

306 S. Prospect

We started with a question. How does our facility help or hinder our ministry to invite renewed relationship with God in individuals and, through charity and justice, in society? Through conversation and polling in the worshiping community we learned that we could better support our ministry by a building renovation focused on three primary
concerns:

1. Accessibility: We say "all welcome" but out building is full of serious obstacles for people with diminished physical ability. Currently our building is approximately 40% accessible, and some of that accessibility is gained through an unpopular and obstructive chair lift.

2. Hospitality: We say "all welcome" and we are indeed becoming a crowded church. Crowding in the spaces where we gather and welcome folks on Sunday mornings makes us less welcoming. Our lively parish life also requires that we expand and move our kitchens.

3. Christian Formation: We say "all welcome" and the result is lots of families seeking Christian instruction for their children and themselves. Our burgeoning programs are overflowing our existing spaces.
We take formation very seriously at St. Mary's and we want to provide excellent spaces for all ages as we explore our relationship with God.
