The Stone Church is a product of  the modern Pentecostal Revival that swept the entire world in the opening of the 20th century.

The first recorded modern experience of believers speaking in tongues following Spirit-Baptism is January 1, 1901 at Bethel Bible School in Topeka, Kansas. This Pentecostal experience began to be entered into around the world. A three-year revival at the Azuza Street Mission in Los Angeles became a catalyst for the revival. Thousands came from all over the world. They received the "in-filling" of the Spirit and returned home where countless others also received. Over the course of the 20th century the Pentecostal Movement has grown to comprise 30 percent of the world's Christians. The foremost mark of the Pentecostal Movement has been its impact for evangelism and missions, reaching people for Christ, just as Jesus stated in Acts 1:8.
