ANAD advocates for the development of healthy attitudes, bodies and behaviors. ANAD promotes eating disorder awareness, prevention and recovery through supporting, educating, and connecting individuals, families and professionals. ANAD was founded in 1976 and was the first eating disorder advocacy non-profit in the United States. All of ANAD's services are free of charge and include: school presentations, email and help line, support groups throughout the country and referrel sources for individuals seeking treatment for their eating disorders. ANAD also hosts an annual conference, Wellness, not Weight. This conference is open to the public and CEU's are provided for clinicians. ANAD host candlelight vigils throughout the country to support individuals in treatment, remember those who have lost their life to an eating disorder and to celebrate individuals who have recovered from their eating disorder.
