About Us:

The Van Alstyne Independent School District serves a growing suburban community located between Mckinney and Sherman on the I-75 corridor. As a growing community, Van Alstyne ISD currently has 1,600 students in K-12and is growing at a 10% rate. Currently, students attend elementary (K-4), Middle School (5-8), and High School (9-12). A second elementary is anticipated to open for the 2018 school year.

The goal of Van Alstyne ISD is to be PREMIER. As a premier school district we want our students and staff to be Prepared while making learning Relevant. We also look for ways to keep our students Engaged and Motivated through Innovative strategies to meet all student’s needs. We take pride in our ability to be Encouraging while fostering positive Relationships.

Students at Van Alstyne ISD are allowed to choose between Latin and Spanish as a foreign language. Van Alstyne students have the ability to choose between AP courses or dual credit courses during the school day. Students currently may acquire 32 college credits from courses offered by college professors on campus during the school day. In partnership with Grayson College, students are also able to acquire career certification in welding, cosmetology, HVAC and OSHA. Van Alstyne High School also has a dual credit culinary certification program offered in a new culinary kitchen.

Van Alstyne ISD continually looks for ways to improve the education for all students. Van Alstyne ISD is ranked in the top 5% of high schools in the state by schooldigger.com. Students in Van Alstyne score significantly higher than the state average on most STAAR exams. Students also perform higher than the state average on SAT and ACT exams.

Van Alstyne students also perform well in extra-curricular events. Van Alstyne students excel in band, athletics, choir, theater, AG, UIL, Culinary and robotics. Students are also able to become active in leadership or service organizations such as Rachel’s Challenge, PALS, and Ready Set Teach. The ability to unify our elementary with our middle and high school students allows Van Alstyne ISD to continue rich traditions while unifying our town and making us a PREMIER school district.
