Walpole Arts Council

History:
The Walpole Arts Council was founded in 1971 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of the arts. It is supported solely by the members of the community plus support for special programs from the Massachusetts Council for the Arts and Humanities, the New England Foundation for the Arts, and local business firms. Its goals are to enable townspeople to develop their own creative abilities through classes, demonstrations and personal contact with all of the arts; provide these opportunities for artists, both professional and amateur, develop their creativity and enable them to share their talents with others, bring cultural events to Walpole, organize trips for those who are out of town and support the arts program in the public schools in Walpole.

Membership is open to everyone, residents and nonresidents. Some of the advantages of membership are reduced ticket prices to concerts, theaters and other events, advance notification through the monthly newsletter of Arts Council activities, and the ability to volunteer for committee work on the Arts Council and thus assist it in achieving its goals.

Dues are nominal and contributions are welcome toward the council's scholarship fund for providing assistance to high school students residing in Walpole who seek to follow a career in the arts
