Waterford Maritime Historical Society
Mission:
The Waterford Maritime Historical Society's mission is to preserve, protect, and promote the rich maritime industrial heritage of Waterford, NY and its surrounding communities and waterways with an emphasis on hands-on, live-action interpretation and education. The Society's signature project and raison d'etre is the restoration, display and operation of the 1938 Bushey-built canal tugboat Chancellor, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Society also hosts two of New York State's premier annual maritime heritage festivals, the Waterford Steamboat Meet and the Waterford Tugboat Roundup, and sponsors the Waterford Harbor Farmers Market.
