West Shamokin High school, established 2000, is located on Route 85 at the junction of Routes 839/85. The communities that combined to create West Shamokin were Dayton and Rural Valley and the surrounding areas. The school is approximately 60 minutes northeast of Pittsburgh. The area is rich in scenic views for campers, fishermen and outdoorsmen.
