About Us:

The Whitewater Area Chamber of Commerce is happy to introduce you to a community offering the best of all worlds. Whitewater is the perfect blend of Past, Present and Future. Historic Landmarks, proudly preserved, stand firmly beside state-of-the art facilities for business, education and entertainment. Whitewater excitedly welcomes the future with downtown revitalization projects, new housing opportunities, innovative business expansion, and the building of new world-class business education facilities at the University.

As the gateway to the Kettle Moraine State Forest, Whitewater offers you an escape from the noise and fast pace of the big city to experience the peacefulness of rolling hills and beautifully clear lakes during the day, then go to dinner in a fine restaurant and attend a world-class performance at night. You are a short walk away from our unique hometown stores where everyone is treated like family and a short drive away from the metropolitan areas of Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago.

The past, present and future is also evident in our recreational opportunities. Boat, fish, bike, hike, ski and enjoy the same beautiful lakes and renowned woodland trails that our ancestors enjoyed so many years ago. The creative spirits of artists like Edward S. Curtis, Leon Pesheret, Stephen Ambrose, Ben McCready, Fran Achen, Vern and Steve Meisner, and Cousin Otto have inspired other artists, including the Whitewater Arts Alliance, to host events, exhibits, contests and festivals throughout the year. The Irvin L. Young Auditorium, at the UW-Whitewater campus, offers internationally recognized stage performances and cultural events.

Excellence in education has always been a focus of the Whitewater area as our outstanding school district, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, the business community and the city work cooperatively to offer a large selection of educational opportunities for all ages. In addition we have one of the largest collections of Native American Effigy Mounds in the United States, an enthusiastic historical society, a full-service public library and resource center, a high-tech community television station and impressive civic involvement creating a successful learning environment.

As you experience our city, one thing you will notice is the friendly, caring people who will welcome you. We cherish our past, embrace our present and welcome our future through our people. The legacy left by our founding families is unmistakable as you drive down our streets, play in our parks and work in our buildings. Many of their descendants still call Whitewater their home. Our "present" community members continue to be visionaries and, through their commitment and dedication, continue to discover new ways to make Whitewater a vibrant, exciting place to live, learn, work and play. We welcome new families and friends as Whitewater grows and expands through developing business, education and housing opportunities. Our people make Whitewater an exceptional community. We've been waiting for your visit and look forward to showing you our city.
