The educational philosophy of Windermere Preparatory School (WPS) is best summarized by our motto: VERITAS, VIRTUS, UNITAS.

At WPS, students have the educational opportunity that enables them to develop their inherent abilities to the fullest extent academically, emotionally, spiritually, morally, and physically. Our students are equipped with knowledge, the desire to seek the truth and fortitude to become lifelong learners who are prepared for college, socially responsible, and able to succeed in a changing society. This is achieved by stressing the development of creative and critical thinking and problem solving abilities. - VERITAS

Our philosophy provides an educational environment that fosters civic virtue, which includes honesty, integrity, trust, self-worth, self-discipline, respect for authority, concern for others, appreciation for a free-market economy, and pride in our community and country. - VIRTUS

WPS' administrators and faculty are highly professional, committed, knowledgeable, and are recognized as a critical part of a strong education. They are complemented by parents who are active in participation and support. The school community grows from open communication among administration, faculty, parents, students, and the community at-large. - UNITAS

Mission

We prepare students for college and life by developing their inherent abilities to the fullest extent in an academic environment that fosters civic virtue and character development.

Windermere Preparatory School opened its doors for the first time on September 5, 2000 with an enrollment of 184 students housed in 20 portable classroom and taught by 25 outstanding faculty members. It was a very successful year providing the students with small class sizes, fine arts, Spanish and Latin instruction and computer technology.

The second year of operation WPS doubled its size to 366 students with our faculty increasing to 35 members. The news was spreading in the southwest area that WPS was offering an outstanding college preparatory school program.

The first phase of the permanent buildings was complete for the start of the 2003 school year which provided 20 additional classrooms, two music rooms, art, drama and a multi-purpose room. The track and fields were added to the campus and the athletic department offered many sports programs such as track, soccer and lacrosse. At the end of the 2004 school year the tennis and basketball courts were complete.

With the start of the 2006-2007 school year our enrollment projection is 610 students with an increase of our outstanding faculty to 64 members. The campus facility consists of an elementary building, middle and upper school building, dining hall, knowledge center (library), computer lab, art studio, piano lab, band room, track, basketball and tennis courts.

The future is bright at WPS. Plans are being finalized for the construction of the gymnasium to begin after the first of the year. Completion of phase three and four will bring additional classrooms to our campus. We commit ourselves to continue providing an exceptional college preparatory education as well as a full athletics program to 1500 students in the southwest community in the near future.
