About Us

The Winston-Salem Rescue Mission is a non-profit, non-denominational, Christ-centered ministry established as a response to hundreds of homeless men wandering the streets of Winston-Salem. Since 1967, the Rescue Mission has been actively involved in meeting the physical, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of destitute people. Through programs offered, the Mission is able to reach out and effectively care for over 100 men each day, enriching men's lives with nurturing and recovery services. Such services and programs provide clients with shelter, food, clothing, and personal-care items, along with job training, Christian counseling, work therapy, and life-skills and financial management classes. Those assisted have little or no income, and approximately forty percent of the Mission's clients are veterans. Since the Mission opened its doors forty years ago, it has extended its arm of services and embraced thousands of needy men of all races, creeds, and backgrounds. The Winston-Salem Rescue Mission is proud of its record of emergency service to the homeless and its recovery programs for the underprivileged. There are literally hundreds of success stories remembered by the Mission staff members who have seen lives turned from sorrow and despair to hope and fulfillment. The Mission also operates a drug recovery center, Alpha Acres, located in Yadkinville, North Carolina. The Rescue Mission is a faith-based organization which is funded entirely by the gifts of individuals, churches, businesses, and organizations.
