Mission Statement

Bringing Christ to our community and our community to Christ.

Our Vision

As a redeemed people of God, Zion brings the true Gospel of Christ to one another through the ministry of Word and Sacrament, and brings the unchurched in our community to saving faith in Jesus Christ through intentional outreach.

We Believe

Zion Lutheran Church, along with the universal Christian Church teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God: the Father, creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God's Word and Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.

History

Zion Lutheran Church was founded in 1918 as a member of what is now known as the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. The first church building was constructed in 1919 across the street from where the current building stands.

The current church building was constructed in 1981 with the belfry being added in 1993 in celebration of Zion’s 75th anniversary.

Lay people play a very important role in our congregational life. Zion is operated by congregational voting members. We recognize that the “Priesthood of All Believers” is part of God’s plan for mission. Confirmed adults 18 years and older are voting members and serve in many capacities to carry forth our mission of Bringing Christ to our community and our community to Christ.
