Gold Hill Road Church of Christ
Gold Hill Road Church of Christ is a diverse congregation with people of all ages, socio-economic backgrounds, religious experiences and race; everyone is welcome. We are a congregation of Christian people seeking to follow the pattern of New Testament Christianity. We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and we try to follow it alone.
Nearly seventeen years ago, the elders at the Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ in Rock Hill began planning a new church in the rapidly growing Fort Mill area. Property was sought and eventually acquired just off Interstate 77 on Gold Hill Road. Plans for the building were laid out, an initial meeting location place was determined and a minister was hired. Before the first service, plans were in place for worship, education curriculum, and other vital activities.
On June 2, 1996, the Church of Christ at Gold Hill Road met for the first time at the Ramada Inn in Fort Mill, SC. Fifty-six attended that first worship service. Less than ten years later, an average of over 300 people worship together on Sunday mornings at the church facility on Gold Hill Road.
Since our inception, the congregation has been blessed with many baptisms and restorations. Equally important is the continued spiritual and personal growth among our members. Gold Hill Road Church of Christ continues to grow through local evangelism efforts and the rapid growth in south Charlotte, NC and the Fort Mill, SC area.
Plans are underway to expand our building and parking facilities. Recently, the Elders at the Church of Christ at Gold Hill Road decided to begin building the foundation for another congregation in the Clover, SC area. Land has been identified and purchased and Gold Hill members will begin the work to helping a new church find life and spread the Word in our area.
The congregation remains doctrinally pure and blessed with peace. To God be the glory.
The Church of Christ at Gold Hill Road is deeply indebted first to God and the Charlotte Avenue congregation, as well as many other congregations and individuals. More than ever, we have a keen sense of responsibility to carry out the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19). We look forward to a long and rich history of service in the kingdom.
We believe Christ established his church as one body and desires it to remain one.
We believe baptism is a burial in water for the remission of sins and is essential to membership in Christ's church and therefore essential to salvation.
We believe in making disciples of all nations by preaching the gospel, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything Christ has commanded.
