Our Mission
AMOA is dedicated to developing and educating a broad audience for the visual arts in Austin focusing primarily on 20th-century and contemporary art. We will present and originate a broad range of exhibitions designed to appeal to a general audience as well as occasional shows of more challenging work. Lively interpretative programming will emphasize interdisciplinary connections between the visual arts and other art forms and create connections to our lives today.

Our Vision
AMOA will develop an exciting and accessible museum in a permanent location downtown that connects to the urban center and is recognized as an essential part of the fabric of city life. We will be embraced as Austin’s museum of art with an institutional identity that reflects the spirit of Austin and its eclectic creative culture, one that is informal, relevant to Austin today, community oriented, fun, non-traditional/unconventional, and collaborative. We will build a reputation for innovative exhibitions and programs notable for their interdisciplinary and interactive approach.
