Water IQ
date:Saturday, July 26, 2008 time:1:00 PM to 7:00 PM venue:Firewheel Town Center address:245 Cedar Sage Drive Garland, TX 75040 View mapThe North Texas Municipal Water District’s (NTMWD) “Water IQ: Know Your Water” (Water IQ) outreach tour will visit Garland to encourage citizens to use water wisely and efficiently. A nine-foot sprinkler head — an oversized sculpture — will bring awareness to the fact that most water waste occurs outdoors. The entire event highlights this year’s “Every Day is a Chance to Save” message. The campaign offers water-saving tips, such as water lawns early or late in the day, turn water off while brushing teeth, and use water-efficient appliances. At the outreach event, visitors can quiz themselves about their water knowledge at an on-site computer kiosk, and high-scorers can win a reusable Water IQ shopping bag. Test questions are aimed to provide awareness of the local water supply, with such topics as where residents get their water and how much water a lawn really needs. Also at the kiosk, people can view the new Water IQ TV commercials, and they can take an interactive Water IQ Home Tour that shows them exactly how to save water inside and outside their own homes.
