Chapel Hill Independent School District

The Chapel Hill Independent School District is located in the eastern part of Smith County, Texas. The district covers 118 square miles and includes a small portion of the city of Tyler, the University of Texas at Tyler, the Jackson community and the city of New Chapel Hill. The district is rated as AAA by the University Interscholastic League. The district was established in the 1950-51 school year and had 12 seniors in the 1951 graduating class. Today, Chapel Hill ISD has a membership of 3,052 students on its six campuses Chapel Hill ISD is blessed with an excellent child-centered faculty and support staff. There are 259 professional staff members including teachers, professional support, campus and central administration. In addition, CHISD employs 182 educational aides and auxiliary staff to serve our students. Approximately 24% of the certified personnel hold advanced degrees. The schools are well staffed and provide an outstanding education for Chapel Hill ISD students.
