Superintendent Jock Whitworth has announced that two new public restrooms will be constructed in Zion National Park. The new restrooms will be at the Temple of Sinawava and in Watchman Campground. The Temple of Sinawava restroom will be replacing an existing, inadequate facility and the Watchman Campground restroom will be a new addition.

Demolition of the old Temple of Sinawava restroom will begin the week of October 18. There will still be access to the popular Riverside Walk and the Virgin River while the work is in progress. Temporary portable toilets will be available throughout the construction but there will be no water. Visitors should plan to fill water bottles at the Grotto or Zion Lodge before reaching the Temple of Sinawava. Construction of this restroom is expected to be completed by March 1, 2010.

Construction on the new Watchman Campground restroom will begin Thursday, Oct 22. This restroom will serve a new walk-in camping loop and campground loops C and D. The restroom is expected to be completed by April 1, 2010. Both of these construction projects are funded by entrance fees collected at Zion National Park.
