Experienced blues band to play at Chelan’s Riverwalk Park.

Chelan, WA -- Celebrated blues trombonist Randy Oxford will kick off the first concert of Lake Chelan Summer Grooves. Lake Chelan Summer Grooves is a three-part concert series held at Riverwalk Park in downtown Chelan. This free evening series is produced by the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, drawing both locals and visitors alike.

“We chose The Randy Oxford Band to start the series again because they’re such a crowd favorite. The kids--and kids at heart--love dancing to them,” said Chamber Director Mike Steele.

Popular northwest singer and songwriter Jada Amy is the band’s featured vocalist. Known for her strong and sultry vocal stylings, Jada has rapidly become a Northwest favorite.

The Randy Oxford Band will start at 6pm, and feature six veteran musicians who describe their latest CD, “Memphis to Motown” as a blend of “blues, Motown, funk, and a touch of jazz.” The band’s first CD, “All the Buzz,” won the “Best CD” award from the Washington State Blues Society. Popular tracks from the CD that received radio air time include “Bumblebee” and “Hard Way to Go.” Randy Oxford and Jada Amy are joined by guitarist/vocalist Rafael Tranquilino, guitarist/vocalist Jho Blenis, bassist Eliud Atondo and internationally acclaimed drummer Asael Gutierrez.

Lake Chelan Summer Grooves, formerly known as the Riverwalk Concert Series, is celebrating its third summer at Riverwalk Park. Concert amenities continue to progress with a special focus on the things that make Chelan unique. Attendees will be able to sample local wines, and boxed dinners featuring local catering will be available for purchase. The beer/wine garden will be extended, so the 21 and over crowd can grab a good seat on the lawn while enjoying a glass of wine.

“This series is a favorite among locals and tourists alike. Our goal is to make it a series that really highlights the beauty of Chelan and embraces the strong sense of community alive in our Valley,” said Steele.

The Randy Oxford Band’s performance coincides with the Lake Chelan Poker Run, a weekend-long event that attracts some of the Northwest’s hottest boats. The Chamber is teaming up with the Lake Chelan Boating Club, with the hopes of attracting some beautiful boats to the Chelan River for the July 10 concert.

Other concerts in the series feature a performance by Seattle Jazz Guitarist Michael Powers on August 7, and an evening with the J-Byrds on September 18. The J-Byrds are one of Eastern Washington’s premiere R&B/blues bands, and the band has been met with an exuberant response from local crowds.

All concerts take place at Riverwalk Park in downtown Chelan from 6-9pm. This picturesque park hosts an amphitheatre overlooking the Chelan River. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs. This event is brought to you with the support of the Historic Downtown Chelan Association, Campbell’s Resort, Chelan Quality Vacation Properties, KOZI Radio and Ranko’s Lake House.
