Long-time supporters of education and United Way, Drs. Gary and Susan Cohn delight in seeing their contribution to the Local Community Fund make a difference in the lives of children. Gary is the superintendent for Everett Public Schools and serves on the board of directors of United Way. Susan works for the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. With gifts from dedicated donors such as the Cohns, children are starting kindergarten ready to learn and thrive.

County-wide resource fair Feb. 10-12 provides help for beating the recessionSnohomish County residents and employees are invited to attend the "Helping Hands for Hard Times" resource fair Feb. 10-12 at sites in Everett, Marysville and Lynnwood. Attendees at these free events can meet with representatives from more than 30 participating agencies and get assistance in preparing for employment, finding affordable housing and answering healthcare questions. All services offered are free of charge. Topics include: employment counseling, job search assistance, skills training, home and personal finance consultation, healthcare assistance, H1N1 vaccinations and more.

United Way's Lobby Day is an opportunity to educate legislators about issues of critical importance that advance the common good in our community.
