Summer Reading kicked off in Oakesdale with an awesome performance by award winning entertainer Nancy Stewart. Stewart presented a family musical program focusing on early literacy and the library. Nancy's visit was made possible by a grant provided by the Early Learning Public Library Partnership and helped to raise awareness of children's literacy and the role libraries play in the development. Just over 20 children of all ages gave the rapt attention as Nancy sang, played the guitar and talked about the variety of books in the library. (See attached picture)

Teen and Adult Summer Reading programs are also being offered at the Oakesdale Library with participants in either program receiving a free drink coupon for Ditzy's as well as being entered in a drawong for some really great grand prizes. Children, Teens, and Adults are all encouraged to participate in the great summer reading programs offered at the Oakesdale Library!

The Friends of the Library Cookbook will be sold during the 4th of July celebration in front of Ditzy's. Local authors Amy and jDick Warwick will also be selling copies of their books at the same location. Some come and check out the festivities in Oakesdale on the 4th of July and pick up your copy of the Friends of the Library Cookbook.

Date of Starting: June 17, 2009.

Summer Reding will continue at the Oakesdale Library each Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. Kids of all ages can come and "Get Creative ath the Library." Librarian Michele Wright will have games, snacks, fun craft projects and of course great stories.
