Ritzvilles Museums
The Burroughs home became the property of the City of Ritzville in 1962. It was placed on the National Historic Register in 1975. In 1987-88 it was extensively refurbished by local volunteers and opened as the Burroughs Museum.
In 1988 Burlington Northern deeded the depot to the city of Ritzville. The building was placed on the National Historic Register in 1989, and opened as the depot museum in 1990.
Ritzville's Museums are owned by the city and operated by a non-profit corporation made up of local volunteers. The Dr. Frank R. Burroughs’ Home and Depot Museum, Inc was formed in 2000 to save, promote, and manage our city's historic treasures.
Members of the group maintain the museums, give tours, and host special events. If you are interested in helping to preserve our past, contact us by phone or e-mail. We have numerous fun volunteer opportunities available.
