Ivan Davis/Franz Liszt Piano Concerto No.1 S.124 Part2-2

running time:08:00 added by:tHEnOOSEsWING source: YouTube

High quality sound: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=yhjNPAW2BJE&fmt=18 ================================ Franz Liszt Piano Concerto No.1 in E flat major, S.124 (LW H4) I.Allegro maestoso II.Quasi adagio - Allegretto vivace - Allegro animato III.Allegro marziale animato - Presto Ivan Davis, piano Royal Philharmonic Orchestra/Edward Downes ================================ Related information: Since 1966 Ivan Davis has also received great acclaim as artist-teacher and pianist-in-residence at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where his solo recitals are performed to standing room only audiences. Davis also instituted marathon recital series on which he appeared with his students in the complete piano works of Chopin, Brahms, Schumann and the 32 Beethoven sonatas. These have become the highlight of the school's musical calendar. His reputation as a distinguished pedagogue resulted in his being a visiting Professor at Indiana University, as well as presenting Master Classes throughout the United States. Davis serves regularly on the juries of several prestigious international piano competitions. Because of his vast knowledge and great love for opera, Davis became a frequent and popular panelist and lecturer on the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts. He appeared in joint recitals with the legendary soprano Magda Olivero at Carnegie Hall and later with the Met's reigning prima donna Renata Scotto in Paris (recorded on Etcetera Records). His recording for Audiofon of music by Liszt and Schumann was called "the greatest piano recording ever made" by Byron Belt, the late Critic-at-Large for the Newhouse News Service. Also released on that label are an all-Grieg recital and a 2-cd album (Souvenirs) comprising his London debut recital and live encores. On February 12, 1984, Ivan Davis performed the Rhapsody in Blue in New York City on the 60th anniversary recreation of the famous Paul Whiteman concert that featured the world premiere of George Gershwin performing his masterpiece. The anniversary concert with Maurice Peress conducting the Paul Whiteman Band has been recorded on the Musicmasters label. Davis had previously recorded the Rhapsody in Blue with Lorin Maazel and the Cleveland Orchestra for London. By popular demand, the anniversary concert was repeated in New York City as well as presented at Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, Rome (Italy). Mr. Davis also performed the Gershwin Concerto in F with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1986, as well as in Italy and Singapore. The Paul Whiteman concert has been presented in over 70 cities throughout North America. Mr. Davis has performed at festivals in Bergamo-Brescia, Sorrento and L'Aquila, Italy during the summers of 1988-89 as well as giving master classes in both piano and voice in Salzburg, Austria. He received a signal honor in being asked to play the final concert on the illustrious Zelzer series in Chicago which began in 1930 with a recital by Gigli. He appeared with the three orchestras of South Florida in 1993, performing Gershwin with the New World Symphony, Mozart and Mendessohn with the Miami Chamber Orchestra and Beethoven with the Florida Philharmonic. On February 2, 1997, he gave an enormously successful recital, celebrating both his birthday and his 30 years at the University of Miami. The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel said: "The most imaginative, interesting and insightful pianist around -- much more than just technical assurance -- he knows how to make a piano sing -- a thoroughly enriching concert." The Miami Herald noted: "The pianist sounded like his old, or rather young, self. Davis the virtuoso is back." When not practicing, performing or teaching, Ivan Davis can usually be found cooking and entertaining in his spacious custom-designed kitchen in Miami or he might be watching football or showing movies (over 8,000 in his collection) in his private audio-video theater. http://www.ivandavis.com/Bio.html ================================ *Note:Support the artist, their families and their legacy by purchasing their music.

Kevin Jerome Duckworth Tribute: A Great Superstar

running time:01:04 added by:GoldenCine source: YouTube

Kevin Jerome Duckworth (April 1, 1964 -- August 25, 2008) was an American professional basketball player at center in the National Basketball Association, most notably as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers. Duckworth was born in Harvey, Illinois and grew up in Chicago, where he played basketball at Thornridge High School. He attended Eastern Illinois University (EIU), where he set a university record of 867 rebounds, a record that still held at the time of his death. He led EIU to the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament Championship in 1985 and was the Conference Player of the Year in 1986. Duckworth was the ninth pick in the 2nd round of the 1986 NBA Draft, chosen by the San Antonio Spurs. Later that season, he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers for rookie Walter Berry. His rookie season was unspectacular, as Duckworth came off the bench to back up center Steve Johnson (who in turn got the starting center position when Sam Bowie suffered a broken leg). However, the next season Johnson went down with an injury (in addition; Bowie broke his leg again at the beginning of the season), and Duckworth was pushed into the starting role, from where he averaged 15.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Also, after having previously never averaged over 70.0 percent from the free throw line, he shot 77% that year, rebounded well, and played good defense - earning him the 1988 NBA Most Improved Player Award. The following season, Duckworth improved his averages to 18.1 points and 8.0 rebounds, and was named to the Western Conference All-Star team. After the 1988-89 campaign, Bowie was traded to the New Jersey Nets for Buck Williams and Johnson, who was at the end of his career, was left unprotected in the 1989 expansion draft, allowing Duckworth to become the starting center. The 1990 and 1991 seasons were also successful for Duckworth and the Blazers. Although 1988-89 was statistically Duckworth's best season, the team enjoyed greater success the in the following years - advancing to the NBA Finals in 1990, and posting a 63-19 record in 1990-91. The presence of Williams as the starting power forward, with rebounding as main assignment, allowed Duckworth to concentrate on scoring and defense. In 1991 Duckworth was also selected as an NBA All-Star for a second time. Duckworth's production began to slip in the 1991-92 season, as his physical conditioning deteriorated somewhat. He was constantly outplayed in the 1992 NBA Finals, and was even less productive in the following season, in which the Blazers failed to advance past the first round of the playoffs. At the end of 1992-93, Duckworth was traded to the Washington Bullets for forward Harvey Grant. Duckworth played four more seasons in the NBA, two for the Bullets, one for the Milwaukee Bucks, missing most of the season due to injuries, and one for the Los Angeles Clippers (1996-97). He retired from professional basketball after that season. In 1996, Duckworth and Kermit Washington opened Le'Slam Sports Cafe in Vancouver, Washington. He settled in Tigard, Oregon, with his girlfriend and her two children. He was a Heritage Ambassador for the Portland Trail Blazers and was active in the community. He spent several years at the end of his life working at and helping out with Royal Marine Sales, a small locally owned company where he bought and sold small yachts. Duckworth died of a heart attack on Monday, August 25, 2008 in Gleneden Beach, Oregon, near the coastal town of Lincoln City. He collapsed in his hotel room, and emergency services were unable to revive him. His death was confirmed by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. Duckworth was in town as part of a Trail Blazers group hosting a free kids basketball clinic. An autopsy identified the cause of death as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with congestive heart failure. He was 44. Please Comment, Rate, Subscribe and Add me as a friend! - Golden Cine.

Cat 3 now, water is very warm which makes for stronger cane. Causing oil to rise. Light, sweet crude for October delivery settled $1.16, or 1%, higher at $116.27 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude on the ICE futures exchange settled at $114.63 a barrel, up 60 cents. After strengthening from tropical storm status overnight, Hurricane Gustav made landfall on Haiti Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center reported, with maximum sustained winds near 90 mph. Traders pondered whether it could eventually strike the U.S. Gulf Coast, home to 40% of U.S. refining capacity and a quarter of the nation's crude production. "We're going to see the market ebb and flow and see the expansion and contraction of the storm premium this week until we get a clearer idea of the path of this storm," said Jim Ritterbusch, president of Ritterbusch and Associates, an energy trading advisory firm. The hurricane center warned the storm could reach the Gulf of Mexico by 8 a.m. Sunday. Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA) said personnel evacuations from the Gulf could start as early as Wednesday as Gustav heads northwest through the Caribbean Sea. Shell reported no impact on production. Adding support to crude futures was Russia's recognition of the breakaway Georgian provinces of South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states, a move that prompted protests among Western leaders. Russia is the world's second-largest exporter of crude oil. "The strength in crude today was precipitated primarily by Gustav, and secondarily on Russian geopolitical concerns," said Kyle Cooper, director of research at IAF Advisors in Houston. Cooper said new private forecasts indicated Hurricane Gustav now appears more likely to miss the U.S.'s coastal energy installations, helping damp an earlier rally that took Nymex crude prices to $117.89 a barrel. Oil remains pressured as triple-digit prices weigh on demand. The Energy Information Administration reported revised data Tuesday showing that U.S. oil demand in June was 5.6% lower than a year before. At 1.17 million barrels a day, that's the weakest June consumption since 1998. A unit of MasterCard Inc. (MA) reported that last week U.S. gasoline demand measured by purchases at the pump rose 1.3%, to 9.579 million barrels a day, but it was down 2.9% from a year ago. Traders' focus is likely to shift to weekly EIA oil inventory data due at 10:35 a.m. EDT Wednesday. Analysts surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires on average predict crude stockpiles rose by 1.0 million barrels the week ended Aug. 22, while gasoline stockpiles fell 2.5 million barrels and stocks of distillates, which include heating oil and diesel, rose by 600,000 barrels. The rate of refinery use is seen rising 0.1 percentage point to 85.8% of capacity. Front-month September reformulated gasoline blendstock, or RBOB, rose 8.74 cents, or 3%, to settle at $2.9697 a gallon. September heating oil climbed 5.85 cents, or 1.9%, to $3.2099 a gallon.
