The Photographic Center Northwest's 13th Annual Photographic Competition
Exhibition, Please Ring Bell, will be chosen by Rod Slemmons. Selected entries
will be exhibited at the Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle from July 11 –
August 28, 2008. First, second and third prize winners will take home $1000,
$750 and $500 respectively. Photographic Center Northwest gratefully
acknowledges Getty Images for sponsoring the cash awards. The competition is
open to all photographers, all photographic processes and all themes.
Photographic Center Northwest Faculty, Board Members and staff are allowed to
submit entries, but are not eligible for the cash awards. The juror is looking
for work that represents a larger, cohesive body of work and will be selecting a
short series from each photographer chosen. A short artist statement is
required. The entry fee is $40 for four jpegs. Additional jpegs will be accepted
if accompanied by a seven dollar per jpeg fee, up to ten jpegs total. Entry fees
are non refundable. All entries must be received by Friday, May 9th, 2008 at
9:00 pm.

How To Enter:
Submissions accepted via CD only. Must be readable on a PC. Jpegs only.
Images must be no larger than 720 pixels (or 10 inches) at 72 dpi in the longest
dimension and saved as jpegs.
Each jpeg must be titled with the correlating letter to match the entry form the
photographer's name and the title of the image.
An artist statement must be submitted on the CD in a word document file or pdf
statement no longer than two pages. (do not send hard copy of the statement it
will not be used)
The CD and CD case must be labeled with the photographer's name.
Notification: A list of accepted artists will be posted on our website: by June
2008,
Acceptance notice & materials will be sent only if a SASE with sufficient
postage accompanies your entry.
Work submitted may not have been previously exhibited at the Photographic Center
Northwest Gallery.
Submission of Accepted Work:
Plexiglas, rather than glass, should be used for all pieces requiring shipping.
A wire or some other hanging device must be on the back of the piece. Although
Photographic Center Northwest. staff will handle your work delicately, we will
not be responsible for the damage of any work. All works selected for exhibition
must be offered for sale at a price determined by the artist. Artists will
receive sixty percent of the sale price. The photographer agrees to provide for
the return of work, including adequate provisions for shipping costs and
insurance.
