Another exciting and dynamic collaboration in cyberspace is in collaboration with the group Common Language Project. CLP is an award winning nonprofit online multimedia journalism project. CLP works with youth as mentors to support, teach and equip them to “be the media” and analyze media intelligently. This class puts online publishing tools into the hands of teens so they might make a change in online journalism. Students learn the power of images and media literacy while creating fun interactive news journals. Aspects of media literacy are intertwined with the latest online technologies so teens can have their say. Students will learn basic Computer skills, web maintenance skills HTML, web 2.0work and multimedia design skills such as how to conduct audio interviews and make podcasts. At the end of the program youth will be the producers of their own online journals (and no this is not myspace). Members include Sarah Stuteville, Alex Stonehill and Jessica Partnow. For ages: 12 - 16.
Cost: $650.00
Date: Monday - Friday, July 7 - July 18 from 10 am - 4 pm.
